পেরাক, লেংগং, সুমাত্রা, জাভা, জেগে ওঠো
ঘণ ছায়া, জেগে ওঠো ইন্দো মালয়,
প্রাগৌতিহাসিক এই সূর্য্য ওঠার আগেই
ডাক দেয় জেগে তোলে ক্ষুধা
বেড় হও বনে চলো,
অনেক বড় হা নিয়ে
তাকিয়ে আছে গোত্রের ক্ষুধা মুখ

গোটা ইন্দো মালয় ডেকে যায়,
বেড় হও, জেগে ওঠ
চিৎকার করে, নাম ধরে ধরে
উকিত, দুসান, ওরাং, অ্যাসলি, রাওয়া
তেমুয়ান, কেলাবিত, নেগ্রিটস জেগে ওঠ
বেড়িয়ে পড়ো, পুরো সারাওয়াক পেনাং বোণিও
অরণ্যের পথে পথে

গভীর ক্রান্তীয় এ বন,
পথ যতটা এগোয়
বিপদ ও এগিয়ে আসে, হাতের কাছেই, ইঞ্চি সামনেই
সুমাত্রা, জাভা, ডাকে শুধু -ক্রান্তীয় বৃষ্টি বনে
এক পা বাড়াও তো বিপদের বোঝা, ঘাড়ে নিয়ে,
অন্ধকার নেমে এলে
শিকারের খোজে ঘুরে শেষে
শিকারের পেটে হয়ে হাওয়া

সারা দিন হেটে হেটে ক্লান্ত আজিজ, খুদরি
সম্প্রদায় “জাহাই” পুরো দায়, মাথায়,
ঘাড়ে নৃগোষ্ঠীর ৮টি পরিবারের দায়িত্ব,
৩০টি হা মুখ, নেতৃত্বে চার হাত,
আবডাল, মগডাল পাহাড়, পাথার, খুজে

জুটেনি একটি ও শিকার, সারাদিন
হয়তো খানিক পরে, সূর্য ডুবে যাবে,
তাই যদি হয় তবে, খালি হাতে ফেরা,
আজিজ, খুদরি -আৎকে উঠে
চেয়ে আছে হা হয়ে ৩০টি ক্ষুধা মুখ

বলি,কতোবার খাও তুমি?
শুন তবে অবাক হয়ে, এটা জাহাই
নৃগোষ্ঠীর দিবেসের একমাত্রই আহার,
সারাদিন রোজার শেষে
এই ক্ষুধা মুখ শুধু হা চেয়ে থাকে
পৃথিবীতে ১০০০ কি ১২০০ ওরা টিকে আছে

কখন ফিরবে আজিজ, খুদরি
সব শেষে পেয়ে গেলো ২টি শিকার, (বানর)

রাতের অন্ধকার শেষে, চিৎকার দেয় শুধু
ডাক দেয় জেগে তোলে ক্ষুধা
বের হও, বের হও বনে চলো,
অথচ পৃথিবীর অন্য প্রান্তে তখনো প্রানবন্ত আলো -
